Principal's Message

Dear Families and Friends of Somerset Academy Avenir, 

Welcome to the inaugural year of Somerset Academy Avenir! It is with great excitement that we open our doors to the young learners and families who will become the heart and soul of our school. Together, we are embarking on an incredible journey to nurture and empower the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and global citizens. 

I am proud and excited to step into the role of founding principal of Somerset Avenir. Having dedicated my career to education, I am deeply honored to lead this new chapter in the Somerset Academy tradition of excellence. 

Before this exciting opportunity, I served as Vice Principal of Somerset Academy Boca, an FLDOE School of Excellence, where I witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the Somerset approach. This role was especially meaningful as my son attended elementary school there, thriving in an environment that fosters academic success and personal growth. Prior to my time at Somerset Boca, I served as Principal of Lowell Middle School in Lowell, Indiana, for eight years. My journey in education began in the classroom as a secondary science teacher, where I spent nine rewarding years inspiring growth and curiosity in students before transitioning into school administration. 

Education is not just my career; it is at the heart of my family. My husband is a dedicated middle school English teacher, my daughter is pursuing her studies at the University of Florida, and my son, a proud product of Somerset success, is currently enjoying his middle school years. Together, we share a passion for learning and for fostering a love of education in others. 

Originally from Northern Indiana, my family and I have embraced Florida life with open arms. From golfing and camping to exploring the many local treasures, we’ve truly come to appreciate everything this vibrant state has to offer. It is my goal to make Somerset Avenir one of those treasures: a school that reflects the highest standards of education and serves as a cornerstone of our community. 

At Somerset Academy Avenir, our mission is clear: to empower students to explore global learning opportunities that enrich not only their own lives but also the communities in which they are part. Rooted in our shared vision of fostering a transformational culture, we are dedicated to maximizing student achievement in a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment. 

Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum, which integrates STEAM-focused experiences, technology-rich classrooms, and authentic problem-solving opportunities. Guided by highly qualified educators, our students will be encouraged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and embrace challenges as they develop the skills and confidence to thrive in the 21st century. 

Together, Somerset Academy Avenir will be more than just a school, but the heart of a vibrant community. Being within the Avenir community, we are uniquely positioned to incorporate the natural beauty and resources around us into meaningful learning experiences. From nature trails and farms to opportunities for environmental stewardship and partnerships with local businesses, our students will engage in authentic, hands-on learning that connects their education to the world beyond the classroom. 

As we embark on this exciting journey together, I want to emphasize that Somerset Academy Avenir is a place where all are welcome. We celebrate diversity and are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and kindness. We believe that every child is capable of achieving greatness, and we are here to support, inspire, and guide each student to reach their fullest potential.
